仅用了几年时间，PWT就在国际上获得了众多的追随者。公园定向比赛正变得越来越流行，在一些如上海、悉尼之类的大城市尤为突出。

斯德哥尔摩杯为一个新的定向运动惯例的发展奠定了基础，它在一些位于市中心的历史场馆，比如 格姆拉斯坦（Gamla Stan）和尤尔公园（Djur garden）为人们举行比赛。

12岁的乔纳森（Jonathan）和63岁的约翰（John）可以在同一个路线上比赛，就像短距离世界冠军吉米（Jimmy Birklin）一样。1998年，在瑞士举行的全国青年杯聚集了超过一万名的年轻参与者，青年杯决赛和PWT决赛同时在瑞典哥德堡（Gothenburg）著名的Liseberg游乐场一起举行。

随着专业的组织工作以及为参赛者提供良好的条件，通过公众和媒体的宣传，PWT意欲创造高端的专业赛事，给优秀的定向运动员得到应有的关注并提高知名度。

定向运动风靡于世界各地，或许离奥运会也不会太远了。

After only a few years on the world map the Park World Tour has gained many followers. Park races are becoming increasingly popular, not least in the big cities - from Sydney to Shanghai. The Stockholm City Cup paves the way for a new orienteering tradition, with races for everyone in historical venues such as Gamla Stan and Djurgarden, right in the centre of the city. Jonathan, 12 years old, and John, 63, can compete on the same course as sprint world champion Jimmy Birklin. A national youth cup in Sweden gathered more than 10,000 young participants in 1998, with the youth final held in conjunction with the Park World Tour final in Gothenburg at the famous Liseberg amusement park.
The park races attract orienteering organisers in Asia, Australia, Africa and America. In Europe, more than 20 countries announced their interest for hosting Park World Tour events in 1999. The Czech Republic organised the first open, national championships in park orienteering in 1998.
With professional organisation and good conditions for runners, the public and the media, the Park World Tour wants to create high class competitions, to give the top orienteers the attention they deserve and to raise the profile of the sport.
Orienteering is reaching out all over the world - and the Olympics may not be far away.
